VALENTINE'S DAY IS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2012!

Gentlemen of Uptown, you astound us. For the past few weeks, we've seen you quietly slip in and we've answered your questions on various rose varieties, the meaning of the various hues, and what constitutes as a "long stem." It's at least 60cm and don't let Loblaws fool you with their 40cm Colombian roses. We love it!

Very thoughtful and I'm sure your significant others will appreciate your efforts.

Not to say that the Boys from Bayview are lacking in that department, it's just a little different. It's not uncommon for the Bentleys to roll up at 7.15pm on the 14th and for our clients to yell through the door, "$200 in love! Wrap it up!"

It's been a couple of weeks since the Wedluxe show I know but the influx of inquiries has prevented me from posting sooner. Luckily, many of our blogger and editor friends have posted on our behalf! Here I was, afraid I would be one of a zillion doing orange at the Boutique Wedding Event hosted by the Ritz Carlton and Wedluxe but yay! We were the lone tangerine ranger in a sea of pink and purple. But we were not along in terms of artistry and caliber of colleagues at the event - what a show. Lots to inspire the brides and grooms that attended.

Be still our heart! We still have a soft spot for pink...

Why, hello 2012, I've been expecting you. Not that I've been sitting on my laurels waiting for you. Au contraire! After 50 years in our home in Bayview Village, we decided a move was in order. It was becoming Grand Dame-ish and we've got the heart of a rolling stone. We like our new Yonge & Fabulous digs. We're laying down some (floral) roots; getting to know the locals.

2012, you sort of crept up on us. Like one of my children, like dawn after a night of events, like my true age. Geez! You startled me!

Not that it's a bad thing. We like change, I personally am ruled by it and I cannot think of a better way to meet you than with the vibrant, spirited vibe that tangerine embodies.

Not that last year's Honeysuckle wasn't optimistically charming. Twas; it just failed to register with my brides. Not like this hue. Pair it with white and peach - simplistic elegance. Pair it with dove grey - urban chic. But with turquoise and yellow, hello! You've just entered a bold new world accessible by only a fearless few. With our tangerine flag waved high, that's exactly how we plan to delve straight into you 2012.

Like that segue? I continue. We will do what FETE does best. Interpret, deconstruct and reinvent this trend and others. At Wedluxe's Wedding show at the Ritz Carlton this Sunday, the 8th of January. Where true love meets true luxury...and us. Pleased to meet you. It is a collective of some of the most creative minds in the city, many of whom I personally admire. You will be inspired. Together with my colleagues from Under Wraps Decor and So Pretty in Print, FETE will be taking the simplicity of white, our current affair with (polka) pots, and tangerine to create a geometric but avante garde tablescape at the show.

In the meanwhile, have a gander of new items that will dot the shelves at our Yonge St. shop.

I'm especially loving our SKEEM Candle collection. 100% natural and eco friendly candles with natural fragrance, are hand poured and burn for 90 hours. Once done, you can use the glass as a drinking tumbler.

While perhaps not a hue for an entire room, you can incorporate a punch of this colour in small doses. Like switching out your orchid pot from the simple white to the orange. Or a few stems of pin cushion protea (a tropical flower) on the kitchen island.

Beautiful, simple and invigorating.

Same goes for sending flowers. I cannot tell you how many times a week we sell this arrangement. By far one of the most popular designs we offer and it's because of that punch of tangerine. Enjoy!
